Most personal websites are built to be looked at, and I wanted one that could be lived in instead.
Very little of what I do ever fit comfortably in a feed, and at some point I stopped wanting it to, because a feed is a rented room where the rent is your attention and the landlord rearranges the furniture whenever engagement drops. This site is the other option, the older one, which amounts to a domain, some HTML, and time.
What I want is for this place to feel like a workshop that happens to have a public door, where anyone walking in would find things half-finished, tools on the table, notes pinned to the wall. That happens to be an accurate picture of me, and I would like the site to stay that way permanently.
There is a version of this site that would be optimized for recruiters and another that would be optimized for an aesthetic, and I am trying to build the one that is optimized for nothing, because that is the only version I can imagine still maintaining in ten years.
